The Edmonton Oilers may be looking to trade a rostered player soon, and Mattias Janmark is one of the most likely candidates to be shipped out.
The Oilers have a logjam of NHL ready forwards and defenceman that will necessitate a transaction to free up a roster spot and cap space when the team is fully healthy. Being a 4th liner and PK specialist, Janmark is the most replaceable forward.

The Sharks have enough cap space to take on Janmark's full contract, and they also have a ton of draft capital they can use to make a move for him. Realistically, if the Oilers need to dump him, they wouldn't ask for much, and they could likely get a 2026 sixth-round pick in return, with no retention involved.

However, trading Janmark may not be so easy due to his contract. Owed $1.45M for the next two seasons and already 32 years old, Janmark has a 10-team no trade list the Oilers would have to work around as well.
Janmark is a savvy defensive forward, but he only scored 2 goals last season. The reality is that other NHL teams have similar players in the same role, and may not need to take on Janmark with his $1.45M salary.
In addition, the Oilers have just confirmed that Janmark has suffered a setback with his current injury. Any trade involving him may be on hold for now.
Hopefully the Oilers are able to find a new landing spot for Janmark in trade, which will allow them to ice their best roster possible. He's been a solid worker over his last 3 seasons in Edmonton, but Janmark doesn't look like a fit for the Oilers anymore.
