The Edmonton Oilers are quickly coming up on a deadline to make a decision on the future of Jack Roslovic on their roster.

The Oilers signed Roslovic during the first game of the season, an unusually late contract for a free agent of his stature. However, the Oilers included a clause that could give them a quick out in the contract.

Oilers approaching key decision on Jack Roslovic based on contract clause

NHL insider David Pagnotta highlighted the upcoming November 1st deadline which will be significant for Roslovic's future in Edmonton. On that date, a full no-move clause with a 4 team trade list will kick in on his contract.
The Oilers may still have some options to move Roslovic with a 4 team trade list, but it would be a substantially harder deal. However, they could easily move him prior to November 1st.
So far on the ice, Roslovic has been just okay. Against the Detroit Red Wings he played a season high of 18:23 in ice time, which is a good sign he's earned the trust of Coach Knoblauch.
With just 1 assist in his first 5 games though, early returns haven't been astounding. Last season he excelled in a depth role, scoring 21 even strength goals with the Hurricanes - and that's exactly what the Oilers would hope for.
Zach Hyman is set to return near the first of November as well, which will make the Oilers deep forward group even a bit more crowded.
The front office will have a difficult decision to make, and it's possible that Roslovic is among the candidates to be cut.
