With his elite play in the AHL, prospect forward Quinn Hutson is building a strong case for an Oilers' call-up, sooner rather than later.

Quinn Hutson, who will be 24 in January. Hutson is deft with the puck, brilliant with it really, and he's been on a tear in the AHL, with 13 goals and 24 points in 21 games. He's not a physical winger, but he's a smart player who can defend. He's a great candidate to try out in the Top 6 on the wing of either McDavid or Draisaitl. I'd call him up today.

With every game in Bakersfield, Quinn gets better, playing at an elite-level and turning heads as a first-year pro.
Over 21 games, he's scored 13G and 11A with a plus-7 goal differential, a stat that many ignore these days, but is a very good indication of a player's defensive responsibility.
Hutson now leads all AHL freshmen with his 13 goals this season, and is the leading candidate for rookie of the year.
With Jack Roslovic's and Kasperi Kapanen's injuries, the Oilers could use some help with the top-6 wing position, for balance and secondary scoring.
Hutson can solve both issues.

The main problem with a Hutson call-up is who does Edmonton send down to the minors? Matt Savoie comes to mind, who is struggling offensively.
There are arguments for and against the Savoie demotion, though perhaps logging big minutes with Bakersfield would help his development, as it has Ike Howard's.
If Quinn Hutson continues to perform as he has, however, the Oilers may not have a choice in the matter.
