Prospect Roby Jarventie is off to a hot start with the Bakerfield Condors which could catch the attention of the Oilers front office.
The Oilers have been struggling to capitalize on their offence through the early stretch of the season, leading to a mediocre record at the moment.
The offensive struggles are mostly coming from the top half of the lineup, but the Oilers may have another option to try.
Oilers prospect Roby Jarventie off to hot start in AHL, may not stay in North America
Now 23 years old, Jarventie is one of the Oilers better offensive prospects not playing in the NHL - and he's off to a great start in the AHL.
Through the first 3 games of the season, Jarventie has noticeably been one of the best players on the ice in each game and has registered 3 goals and 5 points.
This isn't just a strong stretch of play for Jarventie either - he's dominated the AHL whenever he's been in the lineup over the last 4 seasons.
Plagued by a serious knee injury, Jarventie was held to just 24 games in the last two seasons, but still put up 22 points.
Now that he's fully healthy, this year could be transformative for Jarventie's NHL chances. If he can prove his 200 foot game is ready for the big league, his offensive prowess should be good enough to earn him a call-up.
Not only that, but Jarventie also signed a contract in Europe this offseason before the Oilers convinced him to stay. They may have plans to bring him up, and know that they're at risk of losing him to Europe.
Hopefully Jarventie sustains this offensive success, and catches the attention of the front office for a trial with the Oilers.
