Hockey podcaster Pete Blackburn gave his take on how the next three games for the Edmonton Oilers are important for players like Jeff Skinner and Ryan Nugent Hopkins.

The team has gone through a rash of injuries where Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid remain out of the lineup which Blackburn feels these games will give other players a chance to step up and gel with their teammates.

Oilers players have opportunities to be noticed for playoff run

Over the course of this season, several players especially in the bottom 6 have not shown their full capabilities as they have not either been able to gel together or find consistency in their game according to Blackburn.
With both players out of the lineup and the team still waiting for Evander Kane in Trent Frederic to enter the lineup, players like Mattias Janmark , Ryan Nugent Hopkins and Connor brown can make an impact on the lineup and be more effective with more ice time.
These sentiments were echoed by the head coach Kris Knoblauch as he made a call to action for his players to step up their game for the same reasons.

Rash of injuries continue to haunt remaining games of Oilers season

The Oilers have seen other injuries crop up over the past couple of games including Mattias Ekholm who was out of the lineup in the loss against the Seattle Kraken and goaltender Stuart Skinner who had suffered a potential concussion during the game against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday.
The prognosis for these injuries is good and the Oilers will be receiving many reinforcements over the next coming few weeks as the team is in the final stretch of the season where they have 10 games remaining.
The Oilers will face their provincial rivals the Calgary Flames along with the Golden Knights, the San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, St Louis Blues and the Winnipeg Jets over that stretch and will determine where they will finish as they chase the golden Knights for first place in the Pacific division.
Tomorrow's game against the flames will be at 10:00 PM eastern.
