Edmonton Oilers General Manager Stan Bowman has officially ruled out signing goalie Carter Hart, and has committed to Stuart Skinner for this season.
Skinner is entering a make-or-break year after two poor seasons, and there's plenty of pressure on the Oilers with McDavid's contract as well. Even with immense pressure, the Oilers are fully committed to the hometown goalie.

Speaking to the media today to open Oilers training camp, GM Stan Bowman directly denied any interest in signing free agent goalie Carter Hart - and reiterated his belief in Skinner.
In his answer, Bowman specifically stated that he's been impressed with Stuart Skinner's mentality and training in the offseason. As a pending free agent himself, Skinner needs to have a quality season.
Stuart Skinner needs to have bounce back season personally and for Oilers
Working with a new goalie coach for the first time in his career, Skinner has shed 25 pounds over the offseason in an effort to become more agile. Along with his playoff experience and determination to finally win it all, Skinner is set up to have a great year.
Now the Oilers hustled need Skinner to prove that he can find a higher level of consistency this season. If he can't, the team desperately needs to acquire goaltending help before the playoffs.
Stuart Skinner actually has the same career save percentage as Carter Hart - both at a .906. Skinner has posted better results in the past, and if he can't find a way to replicate that success, he and the Oilers should be in a fine position this year.
