Arvidsson had problems with a major injury earlier this season that began as a day to day problem, before progressing to a full month.
Oilers analyst Bruce Curlock revealed the exact moment where it appears Arvidsson sustained an injury on his last shift of the game.
Arvidsson makes an amazing shot block by kicking out his right leg, then gets up to pursue a breakaway. The puck to his leg may have caused the injury.
The Oilers forward was able to get a burst of speed with the adrenaline, but right away his skating stride was off. After a few more seconds, he skated to the bench slowly with his head down.
The concern with any shot block is always a broken bone, especially if the puck caught Arvidsson in the foot or ankle. Earlier this year, Arvidsson revealed he had played through injury for weeks, worsening a problem.
There's also the chance that Arvidsson re-aggravated whatever injury he dealt with previously this season. The Oilers released no information about the nature of the lengthy absence, but if he took a puck to an area that was previously hurt, it could be l worse.
The 32 year old Swedish forward has had his critics over his career for being injury prone and rarely playing close to a full season, but this is just unfortunate if he misses time on a aggressive and great play.
Since Arvidsson returned from injury on December 19th, he's been playing great with 10 points in the last 13 games, while fitting great with Draisaitl and Podkolzin.
It'd be incredibly unfortunate if the Oilers got the worst case scenario, and Arvidsson missed a significant amount of time with an injury here. Hopefully the Oilers can get a further update on his injury as soon as possible.
