Nemec has voiced his frustrations as he has remained in the American Hockey League for a third straight year despite being a second overall pick. The 20-year-old showed his offensive talents as he had five points in a recent game with the Utica Comets.
With this news emerging, several Oilers fans have taken to the X platform and voiced
the cost of a potential trade to bring Nemec to Oil Country. Some fans feel that they should overpay to get a player of his caliber.
Other fans feel that the Oilers may not have what it takes to land the promising defenseman. Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald will certainly ask a Kings ransom for Nemec's which could upset the balance of the Oilers as they would need to send a significant amount of talent or picks to make a deal work.
This season, he has only played nine games for the Devils and has only accumulated 1 assist and is a - 2 with 16 minutes and 7 seconds of average ice time.
Trading Nemec would certainly make headlines across the NHL as it's rare for a team to trade such a high commodity.
It's safe to say that the Oilers would inquire the cost for Nemec but it remains to be seen on whether general manager Stan Bowman can make a deal happen or pass on his chance and look elsewhere.
