Official word announced by Oilers President about Connor McDavid's contract extension

In an interview with Insider Jeff Marek on Daily Faceoff's The Sheet Edmonton Oilers' CEO Jeff Jackson commented that McDavid's contract negotiation would not be a long one, and implied that it was just a matter of time before he signed.
In the interview, Jeff Marek described how he thought people were being very calm about Connor's extension, and asked the CEO why he thought that was the case?
"I'm not sure," Jeff Jackson said. "Other than the fact that there's a certain level of comfort with Connor. He's been in Edmonton for 10 years. He's been very vocal about how much he loves the city. He loves playing for this team. The team is a good team, which is paramount to Connor, having an opportunity to win. I think the conversation would be a lot different if we were struggling and we hadn't been and gone as far. I mean, as disappointing as it has been to not win, we've been right there for two years in a row. I think although we've made changes this summer, I think we have a really good team again, so Connor feels good about all that."
Jeff Jackson was, of course, McDavid's long-time agent before he moved to Edmonton's front-office for the CEO job, and knows the Oilers' Captain as well as anyone in the hockey-world.
So Jeff Marek asked the Oilers' CEO how quick he thought the call with Connor McDavid would be concerning the contract extension.
"I think that it won't be It'll be unlike any other negotiation because it's not really. I think that when Connor is ready, we'll have the discussion and we'll get a deal done.
This is the first official word from the team about Connor McDavid's extension, and could not have come a better time, with reports circulating daily about what the Edmonton superstar would be doing.
It may not have revealed the details of the contract, or the precise date it would be signed, but Jeff Jackson's comments go along way to alleviate some of the fan base's anxiety around the extension.
It's only a matter of time.
