NHL analyst Kevin Bieksa shreds Roope Hintz and Stars comments on Connor McDavid
The Dallas Stars have officially lost star forward Roope Hintz to injury, but NHL analyst Kevin Bieksa still didn't like the way Hintz and the Stars handled the situation.
NHL analyst Kevin Bieksa rips Stars for handling of Roope Hintz injury
The entire incident seemed to particularly irk Sportsnet analyst Kevin Bieksa. The former NHL defender said that if
Connor McDavid was limping off the ice like Hintz, there would be no chance he played next game.
If McDavid got slashed like that and carried off the ice, he wouldn't be playing two days later. Hintz made it look like a serious injury, and clearly it wasn't.
Hintz ended up missing the game, but still travelled with the team and even took the ice for an extended warmup. It's clear that he's at least very close to playing condition.
Still, Bieksa went off about Hintz's reaction to the slash. Bieksa said that when he played, players would slash each other like that in practice, and seeing Hintz collapse that hard was near unbelievable. Essentially, Bieksa called Hintz soft.
It's hard to agree that he's soft given the fact he did miss time with the injury, but even in that case, players play through pain all the time. If he's close enough to skate during warmup, many other players would push through to play a game - especially a key player like Hintz is to the Stars.
Hopefully he is able to make a quick return to the lineup, and these two elite teams can continue this incredible back and forth series.
