The Edmonton Oilers lost Game 3 against Vegas on home ice in heartbreaking fashion with Leon Draisaitl tipping the puck in his own net, and now he's poking fun at it.
The goal became a quick controversy among Oilers fans searching for someone to blame for the play, but the entire sequence was a fire sale punctuated by Draisaitl.
Leon Draisaitl pokes fun at controversial Vegas goal on social media
An Instagram account posted a picture of the Vegas goal as part of a sequence of historic playoff game winners, and Oilers fans have noticed Leon Draisaitl liked the picture.
With a caption of «we're sorry if any of these are against your team», Draisaitl's like is directly personal.
Draisaitl liking the photo shows that he's already making light of the situation, and even poking fun at the poster. It was a tough break for the Oilers, but Draisaitl and the rest of the team know it's just a bad bounce they have to overcome.
Also, Draisaitl deserves some defence for his unfortunate role in a heartbreaker goal.
Darnell Nurse dove nowhere,
Connor McDavid froze,
Brett Kulak missed position on his man, and
Stuart Skinner totally left the net. Draisaitl was the only one with a valiant effort to backcheck and intercept the passing lane, but got the bad bounce.
It's good to see he's laughing off the situation, and getting back to his game. He can see the light in this situation, and also use it as motivation to be even better.
Now just one win away from the conference final, the Oilers are in a great position to still make this a quick series, and get back to the Cup Final for unfinished business.
