Kings forward Phillip Danault called out the Oilers in an intermission interview for dressing a B Squad, and trying to hurt LA players.
Last night's game was the final time the Kings and Oilers will play each other before the playoffs begin next week.
Kings forward Phil Danault calls out Oilers, and Oilers respond post game
In the second intermission, Danault called out the Oilers and said that they intentionally dressed a B-Squad team with the intention of injuring Kings players before the playoffs.
I think they just have their B-squad in and they're trying to hurt us. That's pretty much their message tonight. That's what I'm thinking.
- Phil Danault
It's a completely ridiculous suggestion from Danault. The Oilers are currently dealing with injuries to a total of 8 players, which caused the makeshift lineup last night.
Corey Perry was confronted with Danault's comment's after the game, and the Oilers veteran pest didn't like it at all.
Well, what the f--? I'm sorry, excuse my language, but what do you want us to do? Did he not look at what's happened the last couple weeks? We're not out there to hurt anybody. That's - yeah. We'll move on.
- Corey Perry
It's an incredible reaction from Perry to be so genuinely confused by Danault's comments, and he's entirely right. The Oilers had no intention of getting this game to be chippy, and don't want to be missing their top players with injury.
Now that these chirps are flying back and forth even before Game 1 has begun, Oilers and Kings fans got a little preview of the heated rivalry playoff series to come.
