The Edmonton Oilers are reportedly pushing hard to sign KHL forward prospect Maxim Beryozkin, who would be eligible to join the lineup for playoff games.

Reports surfaced earlier this week that the Oilers were in discussion to sign Beryozkin immediately.

Edmonton Oilers pushing to finalize contract with Maxim Beryozkin

Beryozkin is currently playing in the KHL playoffs for his team Yaroslavl Lokomotiv, currently in the second round. When his team is eliminated, he'll be eligible to sign with the Oilers.
According to reports from insider Bob Stauffer, the Oilers are working to get him signed right away.
If Beryozkin is able to get under contract quickly, there's a chance he actually appears in some playoff games for the Oilers.
As a draft pick of the Oilers, he was on the team's reserve list at the trade deadline, and would be eligible to play in the playoffs.
Beryozkin should be a player that excites Oilers fans big time. The 23 year old, 6'4 forward has already played 100s of professional games, and is ready to step into the NHL immediately.
The big Russian forward uses his size as a weapon in the net front and on the boards, and has also demonstrated some soft hands and finishing ability.
Through 66 games in the low-scoring KHL Beryozkin notched 42 points, and in the playoffs has 6 points in 6 games. He's demonstrated consistent scoring, an asset that will immediately improve the Oilers.
Hopefully Beryozkin can join the Oilers soon, and immediately make the team deeper in the playoffs.
