On Thursday, head coach Kris Knoblauch reported that Zach Hyman will likely be back in the lineup as early as November 1st, hoping to slot him for the game against the Chicago Black Hawks.

As of today, Hyman is reported to be participating in team practices and progressing well from the wrist injury that forced him to be placed on the LTIR.

Hyman expected to play on top-line with McDavid

The Edmonton Oilers will benefit from Zach Hyman's return by adding a much-needed top-line goal scorer and a relentless forechecker, particularly at the net front, addressing the team's early-season scoring woes.
In addition, Zach will bring intensity to the lineup. In the postseason last year, Hyman dished-out an astounding 111 hits over 15 appearances. The team has been less-aggressive in the early going of the season, and could use Hyman's intensity and forechecking skills.
Hyman last appeared with the team five months ago, when he exited Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Stars, following an awkward hit from forward Mason Marchment.
Hyman later revealed that he'd suffered a dislocated wrist and required surgery. In mid-September, Knoblauch shared that Hyman would miss the start of the season, and was expected to return in early November.
Per Thursday's announcement, they look to be right on that timeline, and not a moment too soon.
To make room for Hyman and become cap compliant after his stint on the LTIR, the Oilers will need to make roster moves.
Edmonton has an abundance of defenseman on its roster, and Zach's return could very well be the catalyst for a trade, or potential waiver activity from the general manager.
