Evander Kane receives fine for unsportsmanlike conduct
It was announced today by the NHL players and safety department that Evander Kane received a $2500 fine for his spearing of Columbus Blue Jackets Cole Sillinger.
The spear happened at 46 seconds into the 2nd period when Kane contacted Sillinger while he was still on the bench. Unfortunately, the incident wasn't caught on the television broadcasts, so we won't be able to see a replay.
Kane has certainly had an underperforming year, many hope that he can turn it around prior to the playoffs, but so far it doesn't seem to be the case. With the Oilers not acquiring anyone impactful for the top six at the trade deadline, they're going to rely on Kane to play his best hockey for the team in the playoffs.
