BREAKING: Sabres trade team captain to Florida Panthers
Moments ago, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman broke the news that the Buffalo Sabres have traded their team captain Kyle Okposo to the Florida Panthers. The return will be prospect Calle Sjallin and a conditional 7th round draft pick.
Okposo is now a 35 year old veteran of over 1000 games in the NHL between the New York Islanders and the Buffalo Sabres. At times he's been a threat for near 20 goals and 45 points, but now Okposo mostly wil bring some physical play and veteran leadership in the bottom six.
The conditional seventh round draft pick in the trade could turn into a fifth round pick if Florida wins the Stanley Cup this year, which shows exactly where their expectations are at heading into the playoffs now. After making a miraculous run to the Cup Final last year, the Panthers have been an absolute wagon this year and are clearly looking to get all the way back this year.
