A recent conversation between Oilers general manager Stan Bowman and Oilers insider Bob Stauffer revealed that Bowman is making it's a top priority to sign Oilers prospect KHL star Maxim Beryozkin to an entry level contract.
Beryozkin has been playing for the Lokomotiv Yaroslav for the past several years and appears to be ready to move to North America and become part of the Oilers organization.

«He's had a very good season,» Bowman said. «We've been in touch with his representatives and when his season finishes we're going to buckle down on that. We've paid close attention, been impressed with him. He's a little bit older, good-sized kid, makes plays, comfortable with the puck. You can never have too many of those guys.» - Stan Bowman
The 23-year-old prospect who stands at 6 foot 4 and 212 lbs was drafted by the Oilers in 2020, fifth round 138th overall. According to eliteprospects.com, he is one of the very top offensive players for Loko. He also has proficient handling skills, and he also creates offence with roughing the opponents in the offensive zone and can take the puck along the wall.
He played 66 games, scoring 15 goals for 27 assists for 42 points and had 18 penalty minutes and was a + 19.
According to current projections based on NHLe, Berezkin projects to immediately be an NHL ready player projected to score 57 points. With the high octane offence of the Oilers, surpassing the total of 60 is well within range.
Oilers continue to stock the cupboard as team looks to get younger
The Oilers continue to remain in this win now mode but it's important that the organization continues to add depth especially with younger players as the team continues to age and will need an injection of youth.
The Oilers are facing off against the San Jose Sharks and have three games remaining in their schedule with the Winnipeg Jets as their final game in the playoffs only a week away.
