Oilers coach confirms the worst after two more injuries to star players

The Edmonton Oilers will be seeing another worst case scenario with Zach Hyman or Mattias Ekholm missing Game 1 of the playoffs at least.
There's been significant concern around Mattias Ekholm this season for being shut down with undisclosed problems, and after making a surprise return last night, he only lasted two shifts - raising concerns even more.
One more Oilers star likely ruled out of playing Game 1 of Playoffs
After the game, Coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed the worst case scenario that one of Zach Hyman or Mattias Ekholm could miss the beginning of the playoffs. Insiders believe it's far more likely to be Ekholm.
Mattias Ekholm was only able to get out for two shifts in last night's game, before having a long conversation with the medical staff and departing for the rest of the game.
It was very concerning to see Ekholm only lasted two shifts in his return from injury, especially after missing most games since the 4 Nations Faceoff.
The injury and extended illnesses for Ekholm this season have taken a toll on the veteran defenceman's level of play this season too. Since these problems began to pop up, he's struggled to meet the standard of last year.
Injury concerns stacking up for Edmonton Oilers before playoffs
If the Oilers are missing their best two way defenceman entering the playoffs, they could be in some trouble defending their zone.
Thankfully the Oilers were able to pick up Jake Walman, who's also dealing with an injury but expected back for playoffs.
The vast list of Oilers injuries will surely affect them in Game 1, as Trent Frederic may also miss the start of playoffs and other players may not be fully healthy.
Heading into the playoffs, the Oilers have major question marks with their goaltending and the breadth of their injuries. Seeing Zach Hyman and Mattias Ekholm go down just a few games before playoffs is a brutal sight.
