Edmonton Oilers defenceman Ty Emberson has begun to fall out of the lineup in the last half of the season, also as he fired his agent during contract talks with the Oilers.
Edmonton Oilers defenceman may be asking for a bit too much in contract talks
Oilers analyst Bruce Curlock has playfully warned Emberson and his agent to not get too greedy when negotiating their new deal, especially considering his recent drop off in play.
While the Oilers are visiting San Jose, Oilers reporters asked Emberson to reflect upon the 30 games he spent as a member of the Sharks while making his NHL debut.
It's always a shock when you get traded, but it's exciting when a team trades for you... It was fun to be able to get up to Edmonton & see how much the fans care & it's been a fun season so far."
- Ty Emberson
Emberson has found himself a healthy scratch numerous times in the Oilers last 10 games. The Oilers coach seems to trust the veteran
Troy Stecher a bit more in high stakes matchups, which will begin to matter even more down the stretch run of the season.
If he can't earn back the trust of the coach, if he's asking for multiple millions on a contract with term, the Oilers may just decide to look at cheaper options.
The 24 year old defenceman has served the Oilers well as a young, cheap, depth defenceman. He has a chance to take a step and become more in his career, but he may not have done enough yet to earn a bigger contract.
