McDavid explodes in response to NHL coach's criticism

Flyers head coach John Tortorella has never shield away from his opinion on star players in the NHL. Whether it's his own stars or other teams, he always feels it's necessary to explain his thoughts and how these players can be better.

Connor McDavid has always been in his crosshairs and prior to Tuesday's game against the Flyers, Tortorella was on ESPN 's intermission show where John Buccigross asked him his thoughts on McDavid.

Those comments did not go unnoticed as McDavid put on a show in front of the home crowd as he had one goal and four assists for a total of five points against the Flyers.

Even more pleasing, was one point was his 900th in 602 games. It's clear the new strategy with the Oilers and their new coaching staff is working and the team has now rattled off six wins in a row.

The Oilers are seizing their opportunities and taking advantage of this light schedule for the month of January as they climb out of the stands and into the playoff hunt.

Nights like this from McDavid are what they'll need to achieve their goal.
