The start of this new season for the Edmonton Oilers has been nothing short of a disaster. No one expected this outcome, from the Oilers' management to the coaching staff, the players, and the fan base. The hype for this team was quite high after coming off a strong finish in last year's season, which led to a second-round exit by the Vegas Golden Knights.
It seems that no matter what the Oilers do, small details and minor mistakes are leading to terrible play and costly goals against. As the Oilers prepared to face the Canucks, Oilers star forward Leon Draisaitl shared his thoughts on the team's malaise and how the players are coping.
It will take a concerted effort from all the players and the coaching staff to identify the problems and work on resolving them. Many fans have used the X platform and other social media outlets to express their desire for a coaching change or major trades that could help improve the team's balance and potentially lead to better results.
General manager Ken Holland believes that this team deserves a second chance at pursuing another Stanley Cup run as a group. However, so far, this season has been a failure, and since it is still early in the season, there is an opportunity to make corrections and get things back on track.
