Tyler Myers could get longer suspension than McDavid for actions in Oilers Canucks incident

The Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks got into a major skirmish to end last night's game, but defenceman Tyler Myers may end up getting the longer suspension.
A few Oilers fans and media members are lobbying for Myers to get a longer suspension due to the circumstances surrounding his cross check.
While McDavid's cross check was a response to an obvious penalty in a moment that could've decided the game, Myers' cross check was unprovoked, aggressive, and with clear intent to hurt Bouchard.
Myers was last suspended for three games back in 2013, and was fined for an elbow hit last season. Connor McDavid was actually more recently suspended, for a hit on
Nick Leddy in 2019.
With this history, Myers won't be considered a repeat offender by the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
It was clear that the refs thought that there was some intent to injure on Myers' part, thus justifying a match penalty. That will be something that the DoPS will notice.
Considering all of this, it seems fair to expect a suspension in the two to three-game range for Myers

The suspension for McDavid may be more likely to be in the 1-2 game range, considering he was mauled for 10 seconds prior to the play. It's also possible that McDavid and Myers just get the exact same suspensions for two similar cross checks.
Perhaps, the best compromise would be 3 games suspension for Tyler Myers, and 2 games for Connor McDavid.
The NHL has yet to announce their decisions with McDavid and Myers' suspension hearings, but the news will likely come within the next 24 hours. Oilers fans and all NHL fans eagerly await the decision.
