NHL insider Pierre LeBrun of TSN has revealed a short list of teams Connor McDavid would sign with if he were to leave the Edmonton Oilers.

McDavid is eligible to re-sign in Edmonton on July 1st, and until he does, the NHL will drum up all types of drama about him leaving. Rest assured Oilers fans, other insiders have guaranteed that McDavid will stay in Edmonton.

NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reveals 4 teams Connor McDavid would sign with in free agency

In a new article for the Athletic, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun said there's only a very small chance that McDavid doesn't re-sign in Edmonton. If he doesn't test free agency though, he won't be interested in every team: only the Los Angeles Kings, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, and Dallas Stars.
There's always the small chance McDavid doesn't think the Oilers are set up to remain a contender and doesn't extend. I don't think that's the likeliest outcome, but it's not 100 percent off the table.

Teams like the Los Angeles Kings, with former Oilers GM Ken Holland, are keeping a close eye. If and when McDavid ever leaves, it's a short list of markets that I believe would be a fit for him:

L.A., the New York Rangers, the Chicago Blackhawks, the Dallas Stars, etc. It would not be a free-for-all, with 25 teams getting a chance at it.

- Pierre LeBrun

Connor McDavid was clearly ticked off speaking to the media after his second straight Cup Final loss, but there's still almost no chance he leaves Edmonton.
McDavid also said that the most important things were his family and winning, both of which are being built in Edmonton.
However, it's interesting it's even got the point where a list of teams has emerged. The Oilers will need to do everything they can to prove to McDavid they intend to keep contending every year for a Cup, to keep him happy and in Edmonton.
The nice weather of LA, a former friend in Ken Holland, and the sting of trading Gretzky may linger as a worry for McDavid. But for now, it's clear that Edmonton is the best place for him, and his sole goal is winning a cup for the Oilers.
