Edmonton Oilers linked to acquiring former Blackhawks first round pick in trade

Matheson believes Oilers general manager Stan Bowman has been phoning Kyle Davidson to see what it would take to acquire the winger.

The 23-year-old standing at six feet and 170 lbs was drafted by the Blackhawks in 2020, first round 17th overall, first round 17th overall. According to the eliteprospects.com, Reichel is pegged as an unrelenting forechecker and back checker and will never give up on a play.

He also possesses speed and good puck handling ability which would take him into the top 9 any team

Reichel holds ties to Draisaitl as he is from the same country as Leon which is Germany and he also holds some NHL connections as his uncle was former NHLer
Robert Reichel his father was Martin Reichel who was a prominent player in Europe.

Last season was his second-year full time of Blackhawks where he had played 70 games, scoring eight goals with 14 assists for 22 points and is 12 penalty minutes.

Adding a player like Reichel to the Oilers would be a great fit as he is far younger and would give the Oilers more depth and more youth as the team seeks to be younger.

It remains to be seen how a trade could unfold for both teams but it would question that certainly is worth asking.

The Oilers are now preparing for the NHL Entry Draft which is set to begin on June 27 and be followed by NHL free agency which is set on July 1st.
