Team Switzerland has confirmed the worst news for Kevin Fiala after his brutal looking injury today against Team Canada - their star forward will be knocked out of the Olympics entirely.

With less than 3 minutes to play in the third period, Tom Wilson and Fiala got tangled up which led to Canada’s forward falling on Fiala’s left leg. Immediately, it looked like this was an awful injury.

Team Switzerland reveals Fiala sent to hospital, will be knocked out of Olympics

After today’s game, Switzerland’s coach confirmed that Fiala was sent to a hospital in Milan, and they expect him to miss the rest of the Olympics.
When Fiala struggled to even move while down on the ice and was stretchered off the ice, this is what most hockey fans expected. It’s awful to see an athlete lose out on the opportunity of a lifetime to play in these Olympics.
Online sports doctor Harjas Grewal revealed his opinion that the injury worry would be a dislocated hip, which can lead to incredibly severe consequences if not quickly dealt with.
This injury will likely affect Fiala’s availability the rest of the NHL season for the Los Angeles Kings. Fiala is one of their primary scorers, and missing him for the final playoff push of the regular season will be a major loss. In 56 games this season, Fiala has scored 18 games and 40 points for LA.
Everyone in the rink sensed the severity of the injury, with even Team Canada coming by to show their concern.
Hopefully Fiala is able to heal up well from this horrific injury and get back on the ice this season - but it’s brutal to miss out on the rest of the Olympics and a quality Swiss team.
