It seems Leon Draisaitl will be playing on the same line with his best friend from childhood when Germany faces-off against Latvia tomorrow.

Draisaitl reunites with childhood friend

Before we get started, can we take a moment to appreciate Draisaitl's 6.6 points-per-game when he dressed for Germany at the U16's. It's a little-known fact that's difficult to ignore.
Coincidentally, during those 29 games with the U16 squad, Leon's teammate was his childhood-buddy and best friend Frederik Tiffels. who again will have the chance to play with him, as it turns out, on the same line.
Not only that, but Josh Samanski, another of Draisaitl's teammates - only this time from his current Oilers' club - will line-up on 29's wing, looking to cash-in on the familiarity with the centerman.
Against Denmark yesterday, it took Draisaitl less than 30 seconds to score, a deflection, as it turns out, from a Frederik Tiffel pass.
It may have been about fourteen years since the two childhood friends played together, but their impact was instant yesterday, as Germany went on to win the game 3-1.
Draisaitl would add another point to his stat-line when he and Moritz Seider assisted on Stützle’s second of the game.
In addition to being friends and teammates, Frederik was Leon's best man at his wedding this part summer to the lovely Celeste Desjardins, an event also attended by friend and teammate Connor McDavid, who recorded 3-assists in his game against Czechia.
Team Germany’s men’s squad will be searching for their first ever gold medal.
Germany plays its next game versus Latvia on February 14.
