Edmonton Oilers linked to re-acquiring Travis Dermott on waivers
Now that Travis Dermott is back on waivers, the Oilers would have an additional bonus to re-claiming him: Dermott could go directly to the AHL to shore up the organization's depth.
Since #LetsGoOilers lost him on waivers to MIN, if they claim him and nobody else submitted a claim, they could assign him to AHL.
»Our top three lefties have been excellent between Ekholm, Kulak and Nurse. But I think underneath that, if one of them were to get injured, then yeah, we don't have that experienced depth on the left side. So that's one area to look at.
- Stan Bowman
The Oilers cut Travis Dermott from their team after he produced very poor analytics results in 10 games. With 9 games on the Minnesota Wild, he wasn't much better either.
Oilers may claim Dermott if no other team expects to place a claim
However, the Oilers clearly saw something in Dermott when they brought him to camp and signed him.
The 28 year old Dermott has played 348 career NHL games, including 22 games of playoff experience. The Oilers could do worse than him for a depth left shot defenceman.
With the potential added benefit of assigning him right to the AHL, the Oilers could very well be looking at bringing back Travis Dermott into the fold.
