NHL legend Jaromir Jagr sends touching personal message to Connor McDavid

NHL legend Jaromir Jagr met with Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers during the Stanley Cup Final, and now has delivered a touching message to the superstar in a new interview.
Jagr arguably has a top 3 NHL career among retired players, let alone his extensive hockey career. With 1921 points in 1733 games, he's one of the NHL's greatest talents ever - and he recognizes there is something special about Connor McDavid.

Speaking to Sportsnet about this year's Stanley Cup Final, Jagr specifically said McDavid has God within him. Jagr believes in God personally, and said something that only the most elite players really posses.
I respect the game he plays. It's fun to watch. The way he plays, he sometimes makes very good players look silly. And it's special. I always admire people who are greater than the rest of 'em. I believe in God. [Jagr points to the cross on his T-shirt.] So, I can see the God in him. It's something that's great. I always appreciate it. Because it's got to be something more than the rest of us.

You got to be different. And to be that different, it's special. That's the way I see it. I can appreciate the greatness of the people. Gretzky was different. Mario Lemieux was different.

Jagr is one of the best of the best himself, who played with and against the top players in history like Lemieux and Gretzky. Ranking McDavid in that class of player is a meaningful endorsement coming from him.
To say McDavid's been touched by God too is deep personal praise for McDavid, especially with Jagr as a true believer. It isn't just from his on-ice play either - Jagr took a moment to personally meet McDavid and Paul Coffey in Florida.
Everyone knows McDavid is a special talent, but to hear one of the greats have such meaningful and deep personal praise just reinforces the growing legend of Connor McDavid. When all is said and done, the Oilers captain may rank as the best to ever play the game. He'd just like to start the Cup Parade first.
