NHL delivers verdict for investigation into Oilers LTIR use with Evander Kane

The NHL had launched an investigation into the Edmonton Oilers' LTIR usage with Evander Kane this season, and now are announcing there will be no punishment given.
So he had a knee surgery, as you said, in January, and it forced him to stop his rehab from the other surgery for a few weeks. And that is the one the league has put the spotlight on.
Because basically, their opinion is, do you really need this surgery? And if he didn't really need this surgery, could he have been back sooner?

NHL announces no punishment will be given to Edmonton Oilers for LTIR investigation
According to Frank Seravalli on tonight's edition of OilersNow, the NHL has communicated that they have dropped the investigation into the Oilers without any punishment being handed out.
Frankly, it was always ridiculous that the NHL chose to investigate and threaten punishment to the Edmonton Oilers after teams have done the same thing with LTIR for years.
The NHL's issue with Kane seemed to be a belief that he could've played Game 82. However, Oilers doctors did not clear him until Game 2 of the playoffs - not to mention the Florida Panthers having Tkachuk return for Game 1 of the playoffs, or any other Vegas or Tampa team to use the LTIR rule.
As a result, the NHL has officially closed the LTIR loophole to ice a roster above the salary cap. From now on, a team's playoff lineup of 20 players on the ice has to come in under the cap.
It only took a Canadian team finally exploiting the loophole for the NHL to catch on and close the issue entirely. It's the right decision not to punish the Oilers, and actually address the issue.
