The Edmonton Oilers placed 3 players on waivers yesterday, and insiders have now revealed that all players have cleared.
The new players on NHL waivers today are mostly minor league players other teams continue to make cuts before opening night.
All Oilers players clear waivers, heading to AHL Bakersfield Condors
The 23 year old Finnish left winger Jarventie is one of the top prospects considered close to NHL ready in the Oilers organization. His last two seasons have been plagued by injury, but he's dominated the scoresheet in the AHL when he does play.
Jarventie has already played 7 games in the Senators organization, and if he has a quality year in the AHL, he could be an option for a call up to the Oilers.
Josh Brown was signed to a 3 year, $3M contract as free agency opened in 2024, and it was never a good contract. He's now racked up 300 NHL games on 5 different teams, but only played 10 games with the Oilers last season and spent most of the year in the AHL.
It's no surprise to see Brown on waivers, as he's likely the Oilers 11th best defenceman.
James Hamblin looks to be a career minor league forward at age 26, but he's been called up a few times and made an impact in the lineup. The Edmonton-native has fans for his hard and fast style of play, and his emotional first career goal with the Oilers.
It's great that all players have cleared waivers and will stay in the organization.
