According to new reports from Oilers insiders, Leon Draisaitl may be on track to make a return from his injury earlier than expected.
Leon Draisaitl nearing return to Edmonton Oilers lineup before Battle of Alberta
Oilers insider Jason Gregor reported today that Draisaitl will join the team for practice tomorrow, and appears to be a game-time decision, while leaning towards being able to play.
Draisaitl's injury likely was never too serious given the fact he finished the game against Utah, so it's great to see him make an early return while also getting an opportunity to rest.
Coach Knoblauch initially ruled out Draisaitl and McDavid for tomorrow's game against the Calgary Flames, and it still is possible that he may not play.
However, it's also likely that Draisaitl is itching to get back into the lineup to continue making his case for league MVP. Not only that, it would be great for fans to see at least one superstar return for the Battle of Alberta on home ice.
Hopefully Draisaitl will be fully healthy upon his return, and can turn up the pace fast enough to secure his second MVP season.
