The Edmonton Oilers have officially announced the signing of the towering German free agent forward Joshua Samanski.
Reports surfaced earlier this week from German news sources that the Oilers and Samanski were inching toward a deal - that is now officially completed.

The 23 year old left shot forward has played the last three full seasons with the Straubing Tigers of the DEL, and last season had his best year yet with 14 goals and 40 points in 54 games.
The Oilers contract with Samanski is a two year deal beginning in the 2025-26 season. The financials of the deal have not yet been published.
One aspect that immediately stands out about Samanski is his towering height at the forward position. At 6'5 he could have the physical tools to immediately be an NHL asset, but he'll need to put on more weight from his current 189 pounds.
German sources have hailed Samanski has the best German free agent forward available at the moment, which should be an incredibly positive sign for the Oilers.
Straubing's best player and perhaps the greatest German talent at the forward position, Josh Samanski (23), had already signed with the defending champions in Berlin. But now he's exercising his NHL exit clause. Josh Samanski will be a teammate of superstar Leon Draisaitl in the NHL and will join the Edmonton Oilers organization next season.
