Edmonton Oilers could target starting goalie free agent signing out of NCAA

Davis who was in his fourth year with Denver will be eligible to sign a contract with an NHL team after his season comes to an end as the defending NCAA Frozen Four champions try to win it all over again in the coming weeks.

Standing at six foot one and 192 lbs, the 23-year-old had played 39 games for Denver, with a goals against of 2.07 and a save percentage of .923 with one shutout. He also amassed a record of 29-9-1 through the regular season.

Denver is considered a favorite to winning the championship again and NHL teams have been busy over the past week signing players that are eligible after their teams have lost and are out of the tournament.

Goaltender depth has been an issue for the Oilers over the past year as many pundits and fans feel that the team needs better goaltenders especially in their minor system as current starting goaltender Stuart Skinner is out with an injury and has left the team vulnerable as the season draws to a close.

Teams have gone to the NCAA pool for players over the past number of years as
these undrafted players are a little older and more seasoned and can potentially step into an NHL teams lineup right away.

The Oilers would not have to spend any draft capital or prospects to acquire Davis and certainly would be a great way dad depth to the organization.

Currently, Denver had recently downed Boston College and now advances to the Frozen Four. Once this tournament is over, it's likely several teams including the Oilers will line up to acquire his services and hopefully general manager Stan
Bowman can find a way to bring him to the organization.

The Oilers, meanwhile, are set to do battle with the Vegas Golden Knights as the Oilers are on the road for a four-game western road trip as they will face off against the Sharks, Kings and the Ducks.

Game time will be at 10:00 PM eastern on April 1st.
