The entire hockey world was shocked yesterday when Czechia scored a late go-ahead goal with 8 players on the ice, and now Team Canada is speaking up.

Canada was less than 8 minutes away from being eliminated by a goal that should not have counted - but thankfully they came back to score two straight and win the game. However, fans and Canada were blown away by the fact it went uncalled.

Connor McDavid and Team Canada speak up about missed penalty call vs. Czechia

Connor McDavid spoke to media today, and actually said that Team Canada needed to be more aware of the issue. It was a mistake that nearly cost them their tournament on the refs part, but Canada should have noticed and started hollering on the bench.
It is an element of gamesmanship for the bench to make noise and draw attention to potential penalty calls. Canada did the same earlier in the game to draw a cross-checking penalty against Czechia.
Especially with 8 men on the ice, it would’ve taken just a few shouts to the referee for them to notice and count the amount of Czech players on the ice.
Drew Doughty agreed with McDavid’s comment, saying that everyone missed it and that’s part of hockey. The bench should’ve drawn attention to it, but they were too locked in to the late-game scenario.
Needless to say, Canada may be more on edge going forward after their tournament was nearly ended on a brutal missed call.
They showed heart and resilience to come back and win the game despite the mistake, but they surely don’t want to be in that position again.

Do you think Canada should’ve been yelling to draw a penalty for too many men?
