The Edmonton Oilers squeaked out a close win over the Chicago Blackhawks last night, and Connor McDavid was fired up on a few topics after the game.
Connor McDavid calls out Oilers for more emotion, rips media for heavy criticism
Aside from speaking about the World Series, McDavid raised a seriously important point that may resonate with next year's Blue Jays. After falling short of the Stanley Cup, the Oilers regular season has become too emotionless.
Still some things to clean up.
We'll find ways to get points. It hasn't been very pretty. It's October hockey. It's a bit scramble-y, a bit emotionless at times. We got to find a way to bring some emotion in the game.
- Connor McDavid
It's understandable that the Oilers would find it more difficult to get up to face Chicago in October rather than Florida in June. But these are still the games in front of them, and the Oilers have to bring more.
Additionally, McDavid took aim at the critics of
Evan Bouchard in the last week. Bouchard had faced heavy flak from Oilers media, then came back to score the overtime winner - and that's exactly what McDavid wants to see.
It's great leadership from McDavid on all fronts - even being displeased with the Jays highlights. He's here to deliver a championship to Edmonton, and even the moments in October will matter to shape this team through the year.
