The Edmonton Oilers were in the middle of a tight game against the Chicago Blackhawks when Connor McDavid looked up to see Rogers Place erupt for the Blue Jays.

Playing in Game 7 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Oilers decided to play some live Blue Jays highlights on the jumbotron in their arena last night. The fans loved it, but McDavid didn't seem like a fan.

Connor McDavid reacts to Rogers Place playing Blue Jays highlights during a game

Oilers captain Connor McDavid clarified that he was on the Blue Jays Bandwagon, but he found it strange and distracting to be playing it during their own tied home game.
It was really, really strange. We're obviously all on the Jays bandwagon, everybody's wanting them to win, and it was so disappointing obviously.

But strange. Strange to have it on during the game. Listening to the crowd was distracting for sure. I'm glad they shut it off for the third.

It was bizarre. I found myself watching the Jays game as I'm sitting on the bench. It was very strange.

It truly must have been a distracting experience for McDavid and the Oilers trying to win a tied game in the third period to have the crowd reacting to a different event entirely.
At one point, Oilers announcer Jack Michaels had actually declared that the Blue Jays had won the World Series, and Oilers fans went into a frenzy.
And the Blue Jays have just won the World Series!

Or, no. They're calling him out.

- Jack Michaels
It's gutting to see the Blue Jays drop the winner take all game for the championship, and understandable for all the fans involved.
However McDavid's right to call out the absurdity of broadcasting the game during a tied matchup of their own, also battling for their needed 2 points.
