Every Edmonton Oilers fan can breathe a collective sigh of relief as news resurfaces about an almost catastrophic trade that almost occurred seven years ago.
According to NHL reporter Kevin Weekes, the Oilers were on the verge of making a significant push to acquire P.K. Subban from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Leon Draisaitl and a swap of first-round picks. However, the trade never materialized, and today, Oilers supporters thank the hockey gods for sparing them from what could have been a disastrous move.
The hockey world can only wonder how drastically different both teams' fortunes would have been had this trade come to fruition.
