According to Seravalli, it's likely that Perry is signed sometime between the NHL's All Star Break and the trade deadline, but there is still a solid possibility it could happen before the break.
Seravalli continued in the video to once again confirm that the Oilers are one of the candidates vying to sign Perry, but are competing with a field of around 5-7 teams. In adding Perry, the Oilers address a need in secondary scoring and add to an already lethal offence, as well as his pest like presence being invaluable in the playoffs.
Any team that signs Perry, likely for a one year contract near league minimum, will be adding a high impact player for no cost. At 38 years old, Perry proved he could still be an impact player in his short stint with the Blackhawks, scoring 4 goals and 9 points in 16 games. On a better quality team, he could likely be an even more valuable contributor, especially considering his intangibles he brings in the playoffs. It'll be a race to the finish to see who Perry selects to sign with this year.
