Vancouver Canucks issue statement after backlash to Evander Kane trade with Edmonton Oilers
The Vancouver Canucks have addressed the media following the trade, and insisted there will be absolutely no locker room concerns with Kane heading back to his hometown.
In addition, the Canucks answered some of the concerns from fans about Kane's personal past. The former Oilers forward has clearly made some personal mistakes and had legal issues, but the Canucks say it's all in the past.
Kane certainly has matured in his four seasons with the Edmonton Oilers. Joining the team after his contract was terminated with the San Jose Sharks, there were serious questions about how he'd fit in the locker room.
At times there were some arguments on the bench, but Oilers insider Bob Stauffer says that his teammates in Edmonton were thankful for the role Kane played on the ice.
Vancouver may have a much different locker room dynamic going on with players like
Elias Pettersson, who doesn't seem like the most intense player ever - and that may brush up against Evander Kane like it did with JT Miller.
At the end of the day, the Canucks are buying just one season of Evander Kane in a contract year. He'll be motivated to play for one final contract, and is in a great environment in his hometown to be successful.
