Trade rumours surface as Oilers executives are spotted scouting two games

The NHL trade deadline is now only 8 days away, and rumours are beginning to swirl as Oilers executives travel to scout games in person.
The Oilers trade deadline plans this season remain pretty unclear with needs on forward, defence, and goaltending - and limited cap space with Kane possibly returning.
Oilers executives and scouts seen evaluating talent at several games
Edmonton must be kicking up their scouting operation into full gear, as it wasn't just pro scouts travelling to see games. Dominik Zrim, the Oilers' Director of Hockey Strategy, was seen scouting tonight's game between the San Jose Sharks and Montreal Canadiens.
Additionally, the Oilers were seen scouting the game between the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes, with far less teams in attendance.
There's not many trade candidates on the Hurricanes outside of possibly
Mikko Rantanen, but the Oilers may not be interested in that move this season.
The Oilers sending scouts and executives to these games doesn't ensure a trade will be made with these teams, but it strengthens the case. It's really interesting considering one executive attended in Montreal, and the Sabres game was sparsely scouted.
Keep an eye out for the Oilers to get into deeper trade discussions with the Sabres or the Canadiens after they've gone to scout the talent available.
