Stuart Skinner earned shutout win and Oilers teammates are thrilled
Obviously the team was happy to take another win and push Vegas to the brink of elimination, but this one was extra important for Skinner. All the scratches teammates, including Pickard, came out to support Skinner.
Speaking to reporters, Skinner was finally able to have a more light moment and joked about the outside noise he was facing in recent weeks.
REPORTER: Is it tough to block out the outside noise, especially in this town?
SKINNER: What outside noise? I have no idea. No clue what's going on.
You always have to look inside yourself in a situation like this. Numbers are what they are, but numbers don't really matter, especially in playoffs. The biggest thing is trying to give your team a chance to win. Honestly, it doesn't really bother me. It's about the wins.
The Oilers did also do a fantastic job defensively last night, holding the Golden Knights to only 20 shot before they pulled their goaltender. Still, Skinner was perfect and turned aside every shot.
There is all the discussion around Skinner's poor play this playoffs, but the Oilers and their fans are obviously still pulling for their hometown goalie to win and lead them to a cup. Even Connor McDavid had a longer moment with Skinner after the win.
It's great to see Skinner find his game again with a quality start, and his teammates celebrate the win with him. Hopefully it's the start of another good run from Skinner.
