Sam Bennett takes another run at Oilers goalie, and Connor McDavid humiliates Panthers in response
In game 1, Sam
Bennett scored a controversial goal while falling into Stuart Skinner after soft contact in the slot. The Panthers were rewarded with a goal and an additional power play, but today, they weren't so lucky.
Oilers humiliate Sam Bennett with highlight reel powerplay goal after running goalie again
Bennett's play to initiate soft contact in the crease and then launch himself onto the goalie worked so well in Game 1, he decided to try it again. This time, the referees saw through the charade and Bennett was properly penalized for goalie interference.
The crowd was absolutely incensed as Stuart Skinner writhed in pain on the ice. This time, Bennett landed directly on Skinner's leg in a brutally awkward fashion. Backup
Calvin Pickard got ready to enter the game, but thankfully, Skinner was able to stay in.
Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers seem just as enraged as the fans, because they immediately came out with another gear on the powerplay.
McDavid danced through the Panthers defence, humiliating everyone in his path, and dished to Draisaitl for a beautiful goal. Sam Bennett skated out slowly back to the bench as the Oilers took the lead.
From then on, the Edmonton Oilers refused to let up. They owned every second of the remaining first period, with the players and the fans equally in a frenzy all over the Panthers. They only have a one goal lead, but if they continue playing this way, the Oilers will bag another win in Game 2.
