Ryan Reaves reignites an old rivalry

On a recent episode of a Cam & Sticks podcast, Leafs' Ryan Reaves made a bold statement, claiming Evander Kane will never change, thus reigniting a personal feud between the two that dates back to 2019.

At the time, Ryan Reaves played for the Vegas Golden Knights, while Evander Kane skated for the San Jose Sharks. Following a 2019 fight between the two, Kane made some comments regarding Reaves' ability to fight.
"For the so-called toughest guy in the league," Evander Kane said, "I don't know if he landed a punch. At times I thought I was fighting the Muffin Man. I expected more of a battle."

And thus the feud began. And though the battle between the two may not have always unfolded on the ice, it certainly continued in the media. While taking questions on a recent Cam & Sticks podcast, Reaves strongly denied that Kane had ever called him out to fight.
"He chirps too much," Ryan Reaves said. "He talks a big game, but backs down, except when the referees are near."
Both Ryan Reaves and Evander Kane are enforcers, though each imposes his style of play differently. Reaves is a natural fighter and plays an aggressive game, throwing his body around at every opportunity. Kane, on the other hand, enforces his power forward style of play, attacking the net aggressively and making it difficult to play against when on the forecheck.
Yet, despite Reaves' reputation for fighting, Kane seems to think Toronto Maple Leaf is better suited for the WWE.
"For a guy who plays three-and-a-half minutes a night," Evander Kane said of Ryan Reaves, "The WWE would be a better fit for him."

The feud between the two players is one of the more intense in recent NHL history, as evidenced by Reaves' comments on the podcast. Six years have passed since 2019 and still shots are being fired, reigniting the players' animosity.
With Kane playing in Vancouver next season, and Reaves in Toronto, the number of times they'll face-off is minimal. Yet, even one game may just be enough for fireworks to ignite, thereby adding to the drama of an NHL campaign.
Now, whether Kane proves to be soft and refuses an invitation to fight Reaves, as the latter suggests, remains to seen. Yet, it is by scoring goals that Kane does most of his damage. In my opinion, it's the player that helps their team win that is, well, the true winner, so may the best man win.
