Revamped Oilers' lineup younger and faster entering 2025 training camp

With the Edmonton Oilers' offseason all but done, all that remains for the team is to prepare for the start of training camp in about two-weeks, with the roster Stan Bowman has built.
After falling short in the Stanley Cup Finals for two consecutive campaigns, Stan Bowman made significant roster adjustments to improve the team.
Revamped lineup has Oilers' prospects competing for several roster spots
In the forward positions, Edmonton saw a number of forwards depart, including Jeff Skinner (signed with San Jose), Connor Brown (signed with New Jersey), Evander Kane (traded to Vancouver), Viktor Arvidsson (traded to Boston), and Corey Perry (signed with the Kings).
To address this, they've added depth through signings and extensions, including Andrew Mangiapane, Curtis Lazar, and Trent Frederic, and prospects Ike Howard, Quinn Hutson, Roby Jarventie, Josh Samanski, and David Tomasek.
This influx of younger players is expected to increase the team's speed and improve forward depth and competition at camp.
The team has lost John Klingberg, Ronnie Attard, and Phil Kemp from their defensive-core. They've added Damien Carfagna, Atro Leppanen, and Alec Regula to their system and extended Ty Emberson and Evan Bouchard.
Stuart Skinner remains the primary goaltender, currently entering the final year of his contract. However, his performance has been inconsistent, leading to speculation about the team's long-term strategy in goal and the possibility of pursuing an upgrade.
The Oilers signed Nathaniel Day and Samuel Jonsson to entry-level contracts as potential future options. Calvin Pickard is also still with the team as a backup option.
The net effect of these roster adjustments enhances the team's speed, defensive play, and potentially addresses the inconsistency in goaltending, as they gear-up for another run at the Stanley Cup in the upcoming 2025-26 season.
However, the success of these moves remains to be seen and will heavily depend on the performance of the new additions and the play of Oilers' core-players.
