During an appearance this week on the Cam and Strick Podcast former Oiler-prospect Dylan Holloway opened-up about his experience with the St. Louis Blues' offer-sheet scenario last summer.

"Alberta boy, I wanted to go back to Edmonton with the team we went so far with,» Holloway said in the podcast. «It rubbed me the wrong way how little Edmonton thought of me in our contract negotiations and whatnot."

In fact, Holloway confirmed that he did not have any contract talks with Ken Holland, Edmonton's GM at the time, but explained why he believed his offer-sheet wasn't matched by Edmonton.
«We just weren't on the same page. I didn't feel like I was asking for anything unfair at all, but being an RFA and their limited cap space, they just figured they could sign me to whatever they wanted.»

Dylan Holloway eventually signed a two-year deal with the Blues, at a cap hit of $2.29M, which Edmonton could have matched, but chose to go a different route instead.
Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson had been brought-in as replacements for Holloway, and Philip Broberg, the other Oiler-prospect that St. Louis acquired by way of a second offer-sheet.
In his first season with the St. Louis Blues, Holloway scored 26G and 43 points. Now, of course, no one can say how he would have produced had he remained with Edmonton; I imagine he'd have put-up similar numbers.
But Holloway's 43 points would have ranked 4th on the Oilers last year, with only McDavid, Draisaitl, and Bouchard ahead of him, and more that both Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson, his supposed replacement.
Now going into his second year with St. Louis, Holloway will look to improve on last season's point total and set himself up for a big payday when his current deal expires July 1, 2026, when he becomes an RFA.

Should Ken Holland have matched the St Louis offer-sheets for Holloway and Broberg?
