Sidney Crosby gives his take on Connor McDavid suspension and NHL refereeing

Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby expressed his take on the cross-checking suspension that took place between Connor McDavid and Connor Garland last weekend.
I sat down with Sidney Crosby to talk about the Connor McDavid incident. I don't sense that Sid is real big on cross-checks to the face. But he knows what it's like -- more than anyone -- to receive the abuse that McDavid takes. Here's what he had to say: - Josh Yohe
Crosby, who is well known for taking many hits by many players over the years due to his superstar pedigree has sided with McDavid stating that he can understand that McDavid's emotions may have got the best of him and he retaliated.

The incident itself took place on Saturday night in the dying seconds of the hockey game between the Oilers and the Canucks.
Both McDavid and Garland were trading pushes when both men fell to the ground and Garland wrestled McDavid. Within a few seconds, McDavid got up off the ice and delivered a crosscheck straight into the side of Garland's head.
This crosscheck resulted in a game ejection and a review by the NHL department of player safety which ushered a three-game suspension for McDavid and Tyler Myers of the Canucks who committed a similar offence away from the play Against Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard.

Many fans do not like the length of the suspension on McDavid
The reaction from the fan base across the league felt that it was a one game suspension rather than a three-game and was surprised on how harsh it was considering that Garland interfered with McDavid and wrestled him to the ground.
They also argue that many calls are not given suspensions considering the severity of them, yet others are made examples of. It says say that this suspension will be discussed for quite a while throughout the remainder of this season.
