The referees entirely lost control of tonight's game, but it wasn't even entirely their fault. The referees missed calls for sure, but these two teams were also out for blood.
Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers Game 3 devolves into brawls as referees lose controls
The real final moment of the brawl between these teams was when Kapanen was ejected with just a few minutes left, and the fan got involved by pouring a drink on Kapanen.
Kapanen himself did taunt the Panthers fans, but it was disgusting to see a fan assault a player by dumping a drink on him. It's totally classless behaviour to attack a person like that.
This was the end result of two hockey teams putting on something closer to a WWE match. The Oilers never played their best hockey, but when the score was out of reach, the only objective was attacking Panthers. Florida fought back, and the game ended with an incredible 140 PIM.
Seemingly out of character for a Cup Final game, referees called a ton of penalties even before players began to be ejected.
If this was a regular season game, it would be possible the NHL would suspend multiple players for their actions in this game.

Matthew Tkachuk,
Evander Kane high-sticked a player on the ice, and one play turned into a full line brawl.
Most importantly for Edmonton, they got away from Oilers hockey. The Florida Panthers have dragged them into the mud for a physical game full of antics, and impossible to play the skilled strategies of the Oilers.
In Game 4, Edmonton needs to find a way to lock into their game, and take it to the Florida Panthers to head back to Alberta tied.
