Oilers owner Daryl Katz receives great news during Stanley Cup Final
Edmonton Oilers owner Daryl Katz is thrilled to be seeing the team make another deep run in the playoffs, as they've set a new record for NHL team revenue in one year.
The Oilers have been quickly climbing the league's biggest franchises, and were ranked the 7th most valuable at the beginning of the 2024-25 season. After today's news, there's a good chance they climb even more.
Edmonton Oilers revealed to set new record for NHL team revenue in one season
According to a new report from NHL insider Kevin Weekes, the Oilers have set the new record for total revenue this season after just 2 Cup Final home games. They surpassed the previous record set by themselves the year before, and will surely launch further past it.
The diehard Oilers fans in Edmonton won't be surprised by these figures, and may not be so glad to hear about ownership taking in more money than ever.
Just about everything Oilers related has increased in price this year from last. Ticket prices, concessions, jerseys, and especially playoff tickets have reached another level. More team based content is behind a paywall, ad patches have been put on jerseys - but at the end of the day, it's just the reality of business.
In Katz's defence, the Oilers have become the class of the NHL under his ownership. The state of the art Rogers Place, paired with
Connor McDavid and multiple deep playoff runs have paid back fans for their loyalty.
No one cares if Daryl Katz is making more money than ever, but it does coincide with the Oilers success. Hopefully, the fans are paid back with the experience of finally bringing the Stanley Cup back to Edmonton.
