The Edmonton Oilers dropped another loss to the New Jersey Devils, and again struggled to get any offence going outside the team's top line of McDavid and Draisaitl.

There's been a big theme of lacking secondary scoring this season, and now it's completely evident the Oilers need to make a change quickly.

Edmonton Oilers need roster move to call up top prospect for secondary scoring

The Oilers have a time option within the organization that they haven't given a proper look to that could help with their secondary scoring - Matthew Savoie.
With a number of Oilers veterans struggling to generate any offence at all, plenty of fans want to see Edmonton call up their top offensive prospect and actually give him a chance in the lineup to generate any extra offence.
When Savoie was called up earlier this season, he was barely given an opportunity to show his full abilities. He played a high of 13 minutes, and was benched and scratched in the short time he was called up. Instead, Knoblauch should be trying to actually find some offence from the high-end prospect.

Oilers scoring identity has lost them this season

The Oilers have lost their identity of being a high-flying, fast, high scoring team. This season is their lowest goals per game in the last 4 years, a sharp decline from what was considered the strength of their team.
The biggest culprit of being allergic to scoring is the entire third line. Adam Henrique, Mattias Janmark, and Connor Brown have combined for 18 goals this season. Other teams have 20 goal scorers on their third lines.
It's very unfortunate, but it's clear the Oilers have taken a step back this season. They need to try anything, even a roster move for a rookie, to try to find a spark.
