Sources recently suggested that in addition to needing a bottom-six forward at the trade-deadline, the Oilers also could use more grit and physicality.

Last season, it was Corey Perry and Evander Kane that provided some of the aggression and size, creating chaos in opposing creases and offense too.

Oilers GM addresses lack of big forward

Stan Bowman was aware of what his team needed when he acquired Henrique and Frederic, hoping they would replace what Perry and Kane had brought to the lineup. Except, they haven't worked out thus far.
So, who is available that can make a difference on an Oilers' team that needs secondary scoring and aggression?
Alex Tuch is one forward that has been linked to Edmonton of late. We know he can score - 430 points, in fact, over 592 NHL games with Vegas and Buffalo.
This season he has 22G and 48 points over 56 games. Yet, he also provides size and strength and the ability to play with McDavid and Draisaitl.
Another forward that checks the boxes is Calgary's Blake Coleman. Though his offense is not what Tuch will bring, the two-time Stanley Cup champ tracks the puck well and is relentless with his forechecking pressure.
Blake plays a low-event game and is physical along the boards, combining competitiveness and a fast pace, which suits Edmonton's game just fine.
Finally, Jake DeBrusk will likely be dealt by a rebuilding Vancouver Canucks team.
DeBrusk is a very good playmaker; on a team that plays with skill, his speed and ability to finish around the net will help the Oilers, especially in tight, playoff games.
Edmonton's bottom-six will benefit by Jake's ability to play within team-structure and off the puck. His positional play is strong.
The 29-year old native of Edmonton, in addition to his skill, would make the Oilers more gritty and physical.
It's the exact combination Edmonton is looking for in its bottom-6, and was largely the style of play that helped them to advance to the Finals in two-consecutive years.
